Trying to convince the wife to keep the propane oven but the rust was not helping. I removed the top and took a wire brush to it. It cleaned up the surface rust without any issues. There are only a few spots where the stainless steel actually has impurities embeded so the rust was more than topical.

The top looks great. The front of the oven is still rough, I will need to clean that some day.
